Trap SOCA Merch

Trap SOCA Week used exclusive, limited-edition merchandise to drive attendance and deepen engagement across all three events. Rather than simply distributing items, we turned access into an experience, attendees had to be present and participate in on-stage games to win. This approach not only energized the crowd but also attracted new students who hadn’t previously engaged with our events, turning passive attendees into active participants.

I wanted the merchandise itself to reflect trap culture, and to feature items like durags and lighters that referenced the visual language of hip hop and smoking culture often seen in music videos. Additionally, the creative direction behind the merchandise shoot drew inspiration from trap houses and the raw, gritty aesthetic of rundown buildings, grounding the visuals in an authentic reflection of trap culture.

Trap SOCA Collaborations

To further promote the event and expand the Trap SOCA Week experience, I wanted to develop a food collaboration with a popular campus dining hall. The “Trap To Go” plate was inspired by cookout culture, especially the familiar image of family members leaving with multiple to-go plates. Featuring a classic lineup of ribs, mac and cheese, and cornbread, the meal blended comfort and nostalgia with the energy of the event, turning food into another way for students to connect with the culture.
